Thai Tea, or 'Cha Nom Yen,' with Golden Lily Oolong Leaf

One of our most popular recipes, Aumtea’s Golden Lily Oolong tea can be used to make a stellar Thai Iced Milk tea. Refreshing, sweet and richly flavored, this is a recipe you’ll keep coming back to.

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons of Aumtea’s Golden Lily Oolong tea

6 cups of water

1 cup of sugar

1 can evaporated milk

Yield: Approximately 8 servings

Directions:

  1. Bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a large saucepan

  2. Add 2 teaspoons of Aumtea’s Golden Lily Oolong tea and remove the pan from heat. Stir to make sure the tea leaves are fully submerged.

  3. Steep the tea leaves for 5 minutes.

  4. Pour the tea through a coffee filter or a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher.

  5. Add 1 cup of sugar to the tea and stir to dissolve.

  6. Cool to room temperature, and then cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

  7. When ready to serve, fill the desired number of tall glasses with crushed ice.

  8. Pour the tea into the glasses, stopping about an inch from the top of the glass.

  9. Add 3-4 tablespoons of evaporated milk over the ice in each glass.

  10. Serve and enjoy!

You can decrease the amount of sugar, just be aware that the sweetness of this tea is part of its character and scrumptiousness…

For a different flavor, consider adding in half-and-half to the recipe, or substituting the evaporated milk with half-and-half.
